Het is gebouwd in Egyptische stijl, in de vorm van een piramide, en is geopend in 1997. Voor het complex staat een enorm beeld van een leeuw. Wij gingen er altijd vanuit dat dit natuurlijk een Sfinx moest zijn, maar dat iemand waarschijnlijk dacht dat een leeuw net zo goed mogelijk was. Daarnaast kun je er schaatsen, bowlen, en heb je er een grote boogschietbaan. Een van de meest populaire disco&#8217;s is ook naast het Sunway complex te vinden; Ministry of Sound. Daarnaast vind je er veel andere disco&#8217;s en bars langs de Oasis Boulevard (het is een populair uitgaansgebied onder de lokale bevolking).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.veelzijdigmaleisie.nl\/winkelen\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2008\/04\/sunway-pyramid-winkelcentrum-kuala-lumpur-5.jpg\" alt=\"sunway-pyramid-winkelcentrum-kuala-lumpur-5\" width=\"740\" height=\"412\" class=\"img-border aligncenter size-large wp-image-390\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.veelzijdigmaleisie.nl\/winkelen\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2008\/04\/sunway-pyramid-winkelcentrum-kuala-lumpur-6.jpg\" alt=\"sunway-pyramid-winkelcentrum-kuala-lumpur-6\" width=\"740\" height=\"412\" class=\"img-border aligncenter size-large wp-image-391\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.veelzijdigmaleisie.nl\/winkelen\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2008\/04\/sunway-pyramid-winkelcentrum-kuala-lumpur-7.jpg\" alt=\"sunway-pyramid-winkelcentrum-kuala-lumpur-7\" width=\"740\" height=\"370\" class=\"img-border aligncenter size-large wp-image-392\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.veelzijdigmaleisie.nl\/winkelen\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2008\/04\/sunway-pyramid-winkelcentrum-kuala-lumpur-8.jpg\" alt=\"sunway-pyramid-winkelcentrum-kuala-lumpur-8\" width=\"740\" height=\"927\" class=\"img-border aligncenter size-large wp-image-393\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Er zijn een paar vrij luxe hotels binnen het enorme complex, zoals <a href=\"http:\/\/www.agoda.com\/nl-nl\/the-villas-sunway-resort\/hotel\/kuala-lumpur-my.html?CID=1417652\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">The Villas @ Sunway Resort<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.agoda.com\/nl-nl\/sunway-resort-hotel-spa\/hotel\/kuala-lumpur-my.html?CID=1417652\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Sunway Resort Hotel<\/a> en het <a href=\"http:\/\/www.agoda.com\/nl-nl\/sunway-pyramid-hotel\/hotel\/kuala-lumpur-my.html?CID=1417652\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Sunway Pyramid Hotel<\/a>. Het is een zeer populaire attractie in Maleisie, omdat je daar normaal gesproken geen sneeuw of ijs hebt. Het is leuk en vooral grappig om kinderen en volwassenen te zien stuntelen op het ijs. Velen staan voor het eerst in hun leven op het gladde ijs; met hilarische taferelen tot gevolg. Helaas kwamen wij er een paar dagen voor kerst op een zaterdag. Dit is niet de meest handige dag en periode om een ijsbaan te bezoeken; de ijsbaan was compleet afgeladen met bezoekers. We hoopten zelf nog echt even te kunnen schaatsen, maar dat zat er die dag niet in. Buiten het &#8216;winterseizoen&#8217;, doordeweeks en overdag is het meestal een stuk minder druk. Ondanks de enorme drukte was het leuk om eens mee te maken.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"740\" height=\"360\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/r5f32WCrSjs?feature=player_embedded\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>Sunway Lagoon<\/h2>\n<p>Naast het winkelcentrum Sunway Pyramid ligt Sunway Lagoon; een van de grootste attractieparken in Maleisie. Binnen Sunway Lagoon vind je in totaal 5 verschillende thema parken; het waterpark, het wildlife park, het extreme sports park, een amusementenhal en een enorm spookhuis (&#8220;Scary Park&#8221;). Je kunt een ticket kopen dat toegang geeft tot alle 5 de parken, of een ticket waarmee je alleen maar 3 parken mag betreden. Prijzen zijn fors voor lokale begrippen; volwassenen betalen RM100 voor een 5-park pass, en kinderen RM80 (3-park pass RM80 &#038; RM65). Bij een aantal van de grotere attracties op het terrein (zoals bungy jumpen, karten en paintball) betaal je los nog een toegangsprijs. Jaarlijks worden er diverse grote evenementen binnen dit enorme pretpark gehouden. Op maandag, woensdag, donderdag en vrijdag is het park geopend tussen 11.00 en 18.00. In de weekenden tussen 10.00 en 18.00. Op dinsdag is het park gesloten. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.veelzijdigmaleisie.nl\/winkelen\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2008\/04\/sunway-lagoon-waterpark-kuala-lumpur.jpg\" alt=\"sunway-lagoon-waterpark-kuala-lumpur\" width=\"740\" height=\"410\" class=\"img-border aligncenter size-full wp-image-400\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Over het park zelf zijn de meningen vaak verdeeld. In en rondom Kuala Lumpur zijn behalve de vele shopping malls niet zo heel veel leuke attracties voor kinderen. Dit heeft tot gevolg dat het vooral tijdens de schoolvakanties enorm druk is in het park. Reizigers met kinderen zullen hier mogelijk aan moeten wennen, hoewel de kinderen zelf een fantastische tijd hebben.<\/p>\n<h2>Openingstijden<\/h2>\n<p>Sunway Pyramid is dagelijks geopend tussen 10.00 en 22.00. De barretjes en restaurantjes langs de Oasis Boulevard zijn doordeweeks tot middernacht geopend, en in het weekend tot diep in de nacht. <\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"740\" height=\"360\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/q23-K9QZi2Y?feature=player_embedded\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>Hoe kom je er?<\/h2>\n<p>Elke taxi weet het winkelcentrum te vinden; je betaalt ongeveer RM20 voor een rit op de meter vanaf het centrum van Kuala Lumpur naar de shopping mall. Terug met de taxi is duurder, wij betaalden RM27 naar Bukit Bintang bij de taxicounter. Je kunt ook met de metro; in dat geval moet je uitstappen bij station Subang Jaya (KTM Komuter naar Klang) en daar vandaan de taxi nemen (kost een paar ringgit). RapidKL heeft ook bussen rijden.
