Diverse mannelijke en vrouwelijke modellen streden om de eerste plaats, de vrouwelijke winnaar kreeg hierbij ook nog de kans om Maleisie te vertegenwoordigen bij de wereldfinale van de Ford Supermodel of the World in Brazili\u00eb in januari 2010. De show begon rond 19.00 lokale tijd in de trendy Rootz lounge op het dak van de shopping mall Lot10 in het centrum van Kuala Lumpur. Omdat vrienden van ons de complete PR voor de show verzorgden konden wij er zelf ook naartoe. Ik kon naar binnen met een speciale perspas, waardoor ik de hele show van dichtbij kon meemaken; het was erg leuk om hier eens bij te zijn.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.veelzijdigmaleisie.nl\/nieuws\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2009\/12\/supermodel1.jpg\" alt=\"Amber Chia Kelly Jagan Katie Ford\" width=\"406\" height=\"248\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1981\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.veelzijdigmaleisie.nl\/nieuws\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2009\/12\/supermodel1.jpg 406w, https:\/\/www.veelzijdigmaleisie.nl\/nieuws\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2009\/12\/supermodel1-225x137.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 406px) 100vw, 406px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Bij het spektakel was Katie Ford &#8211; de CEO van Ford Supermodel Agency &#8211; aanwezig. Zij was de speciale jury voor het programma. Zij kwam speciaal over vanuit New York om ervoor te zorgen dat de beste kandidaat zou winnen. Maleisie was een uitzondering op de andere (landen)shows. In alle andere deelnemende landen was de winnares allang bekend. Maleisie kreeg echter veel te laat pas de rechten om deel te nemen in handen, waardoor er onvoldoende tijd tussen de uitzendingen en de wereldfinale zat. Hierdoor werd besloten de show versneld uit te zenden; alle afleveringen werden op het internet getoond. Alleen de preview en finale zou op televisie worden uitgezonden (op 19 december 2010 word de finale op Star World &#8211; Astro Channel 711 &#8211; uitgezonden). <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.veelzijdigmaleisie.nl\/nieuws\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2009\/12\/supermodel2.jpg\" alt=\"Ford Supermodel of the World Malaysia Kelly Jagan\" width=\"410\" height=\"248\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1982\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.veelzijdigmaleisie.nl\/nieuws\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2009\/12\/supermodel2.jpg 410w, https:\/\/www.veelzijdigmaleisie.nl\/nieuws\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2009\/12\/supermodel2-225x136.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 410px) 100vw, 410px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>De show is georganiseerd door voormalig (top)model Amber Chia; een lokale celebrity. Zij kocht de rechten van de Maleisische show en zette alles op poten. In de jury zaten ook nog twee andere bekende Maleisi\u00ebrs; Gillian Hung (modeontwerpster) en Azrul Kevin Abdullah (topfotograaf). Na een &#8216;spannend&#8217; verloop werden uiteindelijk de winnaar en winnares gekozen: Kelly Jagan &#038; Danny Lim wonnen de Ford Supermodel of the World Malaysia wedstrijd. Kelly won in totaal voor RM250,000 aan prijzen en zal binnenkort richting Brazili\u00eb vertrekken, waar op 14 januari 2010 in S\u00e3o Paulo de finale wordt gehouden.
